Central New York Real Estate Site Profile Database

 What Was the Challenge?

The Central New York region wanted to update its comprehensive database of premier development sites across five counties—Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego. These sites, consisting of at least 50 acres each, required detailed profiles showcasing their readiness for manufacturing, warehouse distribution, commercial office, and other uses. To support regional economic development, the project needed to consolidate extensive data, develop conceptual plans, and provide an innovative way to access and share the information while giving the client the flexibility to edit site profiles at any time to keep them current.

How Did Barton & Loguidice Provide a Solution?

Barton & Loguidice, working with the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board, CenterState CEO, and National Grid, prepared a comprehensive on-line real estate site profile database. This effort involved extensive data collection, including gathering public information, communicating with utility companies, reviewing technical plans, compiling record drawings, documenting existing site conditions, and creating custom conceptual development plans for each site. The resulting database provides detailed profiles of premier development sites across the region, highlighting zoning, access, infrastructure, and environmental attributes.

The outcome of this project was the creation of an interactive web-based GIS database that consolidates all collected data and provides powerful visualization tools. This platform includes video and drone imagery, detailed infrastructure data, interactive mapping of utilities, zoning, and environmental datasets, and conceptual site plans showing potential buildouts. Additionally, static, printable site profiles were made available for easy sharing and reference.

Why Was This Project a Success?

This project resulted in a state-of-the-art resource that showcases Central New York’s top development sites, supporting regional economic growth. The interactive GIS database offers a dynamic way to explore site details, while the static profiles ensure accessibility for diverse audiences. By providing detailed, visually engaging, and actionable insights, the project empowers county economic development organizations and stakeholders to attract investment and advance development initiatives.
