Putnam County Emergency Operations Training Facility

What Was the Challenge?

The existing training tower at the site had reached the end of its useful service life and required full removal before a new pre-engineered fire operations building could be installed. The project needed site design and structural engineering expertise to safely demolish the current structure, design new foundations compatible with the pre-engineered building, and update site infrastructure, including stormwater and utilities, to support the new facility.

How did Barton & Loguidice Provide a Solution?

B&L provided structural engineering services to facilitate the transition from the old training tower to the new fire operations building. The team oversaw demolition and removal of the existing superstructure and substructure, then designed reinforced concrete foundations tailored to the loads and configuration of the pre-engineered building. As part of site redevelopment, B&L also designed stormwater improvements and utility modifications to properly accommodate the new structure and ensure long-term performance.

Why Was This Project a Success?

The project delivered a safe, well-supported foundation system and updated site infrastructure that enabled seamless installation of the new fire operations building. By integrating demolition, foundation design, and site improvements, B&L helped create a more functional, modern facility that supports the County’s emergency service training and operational needs for years to come.
