Renovations to Montgomery County Oil/Grit Management Facility
What was the Challenge?
The Oil/Grit Management Facility (OGMF) in Montgomery County receives and processes material from the cleanout of stormwater management and conveyance structures, which supports the County’s MS4 compliance program.
How did Barton & Loguidice provide a solution?
B&L with their teaming partner, American Contracting & Environmental Services, Inc. (ACE), were retained by Montgomery County DEP through the Maryland Environmental Service to design, permit, and construct renovations at the OGMF. Major elements of the renovations included replacement of the receiving/ processing pit, new front entrance pads for ingress and egress, curb walls for material management, and stainless-steel armor plating of the rear pit wall for protection during material mixing.
Why was the project a success?
Design and permitting was performed in 2021- 2022 and phased construction were completed in 2022, which allowed critical operational areas of the facility to re-open.
