OCWA Maximo Software Upgrade & Training
What Was the Challenge?
OCWA’s Maximo 7.6 environment was approaching end-of-support, requiring a full transition to the Maximo Application Suite (MAS) within a compressed timeline. This upgrade coincided with the need to move the entire system including the database and all file attachments to a new hosting provider.
The project required:
- Completing the MAS upgrade before support for 7.6 expired.
- Migrating all data and attachments to a new cloud host with minimal operational disruption.
- Reviewing, revising, and documenting a wide set of integrations with external systems.
- Evaluating OCWA’s work management workflows and aligning them with MAS capabilities.
- Providing training to ensure staff can operate confidently in the new environment.
OCWA needed a partner capable of navigating a complex upgrade and hosting transition while maintaining continuity of operations.
How did Barton & Loguidice Provide a Solution?
Barton & Loguidice served as OCWA’s technical and strategic lead throughout the upgrade and hosting migration. Key contributions included:
- Managed the full upgrade process to ensure OCWA met IBM’s end-of-support timeline for Maximo 7.6.
- Oversaw the migration of the entire database and all attachments to the new hosting provider. The transition required only one business day of system downtime and resulted in no loss of data.
- Completed a full inventory and documentation of all integrations, creating clear and reliable records to support future maintenance and upgrades.
- Updated, corrected, and validated each integration to ensure compatibility and stable operation within MAS.
- Conducted a review of OCWA’s work management processes, identifying improvements and aligning workflows with best practices supported by MAS.
- Delivered training sessions addressing MAS navigation, updated workflows, revised integrations, and new system capabilities.
- Provided guidance through testing, validation, and cutover to ensure a smooth transition for end users.
B&L’s structured approach ensured OCWA entered MAS with a modernized system, documented integrations, improved workflows, and trained staff ready to use the new platform.
Why Was This Project a Success?
The upgrade and hosting transition strengthened OCWA’s technology foundation and reduced operational risk. Notable outcomes included:
- All data and attachments were successfully migrated with only one business day of downtime.
- Upgrading from 7.6 to MAS positions OCWA to take advantage of new features, improved tools, and expanded capabilities.
- OCWA now has transparent, accurate records of all integrations, simplifying troubleshooting and future enhancements.
- Revised workflows aligned with MAS features have increased efficiency and created more consistent practices across the organization.
- Staff received targeted training to ensure readiness for the upgraded system, reducing disruption after go-live.
- Reworked integrations, modernized hosting, and standardized processes provide a reliable foundation for continued improvement.
OCWA now operates in a stable, supportable MAS environment with better workflows, documented integrations, and a trained workforce prepared to leverage new capabilities as the platform evolves.
