Barton & Loguidice Expands into New England With Acquisition of Anchor Engineering Services, Inc.

October 6, 2020

In an exciting move that will extend its footprint into the New England market for the first time, Barton & Loguidice (B&L) announces the acquisition of Anchor Engineering Services Inc. (Anchor Engineering), a multidisciplined engineering and land surveying firm based in the Hartford, Connecticut area. This milestone marks the company’s first venture in Connecticut and brings its reach to over 350 employees across five states.

The new office will allow B&L to further develop its existing services in New England, as well as add land surveying to the company’s growing list of practice areas. Land surveying, which includes boundary and Right of Way (ROW) surveying, property and title research, flood certification and topographic surveying, will initially remain a Connecticut-based service.

Anchor Engineering’s existing office will become B&L’s new Hartford-area office and will be the center for long-term expansion in the greater New England area. All of the existing 27 employees will join the B&L team. Anchor Engineering’s ownership will join B&L’s existing leadership team, appointing Mark Zessin, former president and principal owner of Anchor Engineering, to senior vice president and executive manager of the Hartford office. In addition, Scott Atkin, Bill Wertz and Matt Brown will join B&L as senior associates.

“There are many reasons to be excited about this partnership, starting with the fact that the culture, core values and client satisfaction record of Anchor Engineering are completely aligned with ours,” said John Brusa Jr., P.E., president and CEO of Barton & Loguidice. “Because of that alignment, we’re confident that this will lead us to long-term success. We’re enthusiastic about the opportunity to expand our service offerings with Anchor’s talented team and its deep roots in Connecticut and the New England region.”

“We couldn’t have chosen a better company than Barton & Loguidice to join forces with,” said Mark Zessin, P.E., former president and principal owner of Anchor Engineering Services. “Despite the many challenges this year has brought, B&L has continued to grow, largely due to the company’s incredible team and its valued relationships with clients, industry colleagues and community members for more than 60 years.”
