Barton & Loguidice Enhances Sustainability and Climate Team with New Senior Staff

Barton & Loguidice (B&L), a multidisciplinary consulting firm that provides technical solutions to public and private clients throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, welcomes Charmaine John to the firm as Senior Staff Sustainability Specialist. She will be based in B&L’s Albany office.

“We are fortunate to have an established Sustainability Specialist coordinating our multi-disciplined professional staff in climate resiliency efforts across communities, funding and regulatory agencies, watershed commissions, and strategic professional partners within our multi-state service regions,” said Barton & Loguidice Director of Sustainable Planning and Design Kenneth M. Knutsen. “B&L has filled this leadership position with Charmaine John to provide clients with sustainability expertise in Green Infrastructure, Flood Mitigation, Shoreline Stabilization and Coastal Rehabilitation, Hazard Mitigation Plans (HMP), Climate Resiliency Plans, Climate Adaptation Plans (CAP), GHG Inventories, Solid Waste Management Plans (SWMP), and Electric Vehicle (EV) Development. Supported by in-house grant writing services, we can leverage state programs such as the NYSDEC Climate Smart Communities, NYSDOS Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan (LWRP), and Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) Funding Programs.” B&L provides Climate Action services via collaboration of 400 employees across 8 Practice areas: Asset Management, Water Resources, Transportation, Environmental, Facilities, Land Surveying, Solid Waste, and Sustainable Planning & Design.

John has a proven track record of leading government and higher education institutions in decarbonization, sustainability reporting, stakeholder engagement, and stewardship of natural resources.  With local certifications as a Master Naturalist and Master Urban Farmer (University of Illinois), as well as an Openlands Treekeeper, she tackles projects using Community-Government Partnerships, Institution-wide Program Management, Public Engagement, Utility Data Collection, and Analysis. At B&L her responsibilities will include enrolling communities in the Climate Smart Communities Program and implementation of Climate Action and Hazard Mitigation Planning for municipalities across New York as well as similar programs in neighboring states.

John is working towards her Dual-Masters in Business and Public Health (M.B.A./M.P.H.) at Benedictine University and is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago (B.S., Biology).  Prior to joining the firm, she was the Sustainability Specialist for Oakton College in Illinois.
