Barton & Loguidice (B&L) received the Honor Award of Excellence in the category of Research & Communication for the firm’s work in 2017 on the Regional Green Infrastructure Showcase at the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC). The award was presented to B&L at the New York Upstate Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architect’s Professional Awards Ceremony in Ithaca, NY on February 9, 2018.

The Regional Green Infrastructure Showcase at RMSC provides museum visitors with hands-on education about the purpose and practices of Green Infrastructure. Since the installation of this outdoor exhibit, more than 190,000 visitors have enjoyed this interactive experience.

Barton & Loguidice collaborated with the Rochester Museum & Science Center and students from the Rochester Institute of Technology to complete the project. Students from RIT’s Environmental Science program are monitoring the impact and performance of the new Green Infrastructure (GI) practices. The goal is to evaluate how GI influences water quality and quantity, and how it holds up over time. Data acquired through the monitoring program will advance evidence-based design of future projects in the region. Permanent indoor exhibits are fed real-time performance data collected from the outdoor green infrastructure installations.
